Jimmy Buffett: Buried Treasure

Monday, March 19, at 8 p.m. on Western Reserve PBS

While we all know Jimmy Buffett’s huge hits—“Margaritaville,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” “Son of a Son of a Sailor,” “Come Monday” and many, many more—most people may not know where he began his musical journey, in his hometown of Mobile, Ala.

Now, more than 40 years after they were made, Buffett’s earliest recordings have been unearthed and restored, and are being released for the first time. This special takes us through the music of Buffett’s “pre-beach” years and features revealing stories of what got him started in music, his early struggles, his determination and the endless days on the road perfecting his craft.

Video montage presentations of Buffett’s early songs are featured, as well as on-camera stories by the people who believed in him and recognized his talent and potential.
